SCGB2A2 Antibodies

Mammaglobin is a protein encoded by the SCGB2A2 gene located on chromosome 11q13.1. It typically consists of approximately 94 amino acids, with a molecular weight of around 11 kDa. Post-translational modifications of this protein may include phosphorylation and glycosylation, although specific details are still being elucidated. Mammaglobin is primarily an intracellular protein localized within the cytoplasm of epithelial cells.

The exact function of mammaglobin is not fully understood, but it is believed to play a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation, particularly in mammary gland development and function. Mammaglobin expression is primarily detected in the breast tissue, specifically in mammary epithelial cells, where it is thought to contribute to milk production and lactation. However, mammaglobin expression has also been observed in other tissues, including the salivary glands, respiratory tract, and reproductive organs.

Various factors regulate mammaglobin expression, including hormonal signals, growth factors, and transcriptional regulators. For example, the expression of this protein is typically upregulated during pregnancy and lactation, reflecting its role in mammary gland function. Additionally, mammaglobin expression can be influenced by hormonal therapies and other pharmacological agents.

Mammaglobin has been investigated as a potential biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Elevated levels of mammaglobin expression have been observed in breast cancer tissues compared to normal breast tissue, and its expression has been associated with tumor aggressiveness and poor prognosis in some studies. Monoclonal antibodies targeting mammaglobin, antibody–drug conjugates, and small molecules have been proposed as potential therapeutic agents for breast cancer treatment.

NeoBiotechnologies offers a variety of antibodies against Mammaglobin that have been validated for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and Western blotting, as well as HuProt validated options.
