30 min at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes


OCT4 is a member of the POU family of transcription factors, involved in the regulation of pluripotency during normal development and is detectable in embryonic stem and germ cells.OCT4 is a key regulator of self-renewal in embryonic stem cells; its expression is potentially correlated with tumorigenesis and can affect tumor recurrence or resistance to therapies. OCT4 is expressed in undifferentiated pluripotent cells, germ cells in ovary and testes. OCT4 Ab is useful in the identification of primary as well as metastatic germ cell tumors.

  • Transcription factor that binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3'). Forms a trimeric complex with SOX2 or SOX15 on DNA and controls the expression of a number of genes involved in embryonic development such as YES1, FGF4, UTF1 and ZFP206. Critical for early embryogenesis and for embryonic stem cell pluripotency.
