Summary

KRAB domain-containing zinc-finger protein that represses B1/Alu SINE transposable elements and modulates the transcription of nearby genes in a tissue-specific manner. It regulates glucose homeostasis and lipid metabolism by modulating the expression of the endocrine cell-defining transcription factor, MAFB, in pancreatic islets and, the fat metabolism regulator, ACACB, in adipose tissue and muscle.
